EMMA DONNELLY

I am a creative mind with a lot of interests. As a former Division 1 athlete, leader, and student at James Madison University, I have gained knowledge in many different area's of interest. My teamwork skills have been put to the test to make me the best teammate I can be on the field and in work environments. As a student-athlete at JMU our team has taken pride in being an active part of the community with collectively averaging over 1,000 hours of community service per year. As a part of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) I've contributed my time and ideas to be a voice for student-athlete's communication with the University. As part of the Communications board in my 4 years, I worked to maintain an open channel of communication with athletic administration and the JMU community. I believe that " getting comfortable with the uncomfortable" is something that truly has grown me to accomplish what I have done thus far.

Majoring in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Creative Advertising, has showed me how to collaborate with clients and partners to create all forms of media. My experience Minoring in Sports Communication has brought together my love for sports and my love to create, but from the perspective of the viewer instead of the athlete.  While embracing being uncomfortable in trying new things, it is important to enjoy the process. JMU's SMAD Major has taught be the diligence required in researching, planning, creative briefs, copywriting and producing. Each part of the process learned has taught be more about the world of media, in addition to my person brand and way of thinking. There is so much more to be learned and soaked in!
